Discipline & Training

The relationship between discipline and personnel training is a very important topic in the labor field in Construplan.

Both concepts are fundamental to any organization’s correct development and success. Discipline refers to the ability to follow established norms, rules, and procedures. On the other hand, the personnel training concept focuses on acquiring and enhancing the abilities and knowledge needed to perform a job efficiently.

In Construplan we act under an operational discipline in each of our projects that is essential to maintain a tidy and productive work environment. When our team follows regulations, procedures, and established operating instructions (Operational Instruction Development - PATOOS, by its acronym in Spanish), they generate a culture of responsibility, mutual respect, and, above all, safety. Discipline foments punctuality, meeting deadlines, work ethic and good conduct. This, in turn, encourages the effectiveness of the company's operations.

Nevertheless, discipline by itself is not enough. It is essential that the personnel are well-trained to carry out their responsibilities efficiently. Training makes our collaborators able technically and mentally to perform their work effectively. Throughout our internal training programs run by the operational training department and their leaders, training gives the team the needed tools for them to face work defies and to adapt to changes in the work environment.

The relationship between discipline and training is bidirectional and they both mutually reinforce each other through the leaders’ commitment to service quality we want to treat our clients. On one hand, discipline is necessary for training to be effective; if there’s no discipline necessary to attend training programs, participate actively, and apply what was learned, then the training process will not achieve its objectives. Discipline forms the structure and it gives the commitment needed to make the most of learning opportunities.

On the other hand, our training is also focused on strengthening discipline. When our collaborators acquire new knowledge and skills, they feel more confident in their work and they tend to comply with the guidelines and established procedures -our objective is our training to give them the tools needed to perform adequately, which in turn would foster a sense of responsibility and discipline in their daily work.

In conclusion, operational discipline as a model for training is essential in our work environment. Discipline forms the structure and gives the order needed for an organization’s proper functioning, while training gives employees the knowledge and skills needed to perform their work effectively. Both concepts reinforce mutually and they are essential to a company’s development and success. By promoting a culture of discipline and by investing in personnel training, organizations can increase their productivity, improve their work quality and keep being competitive in a constantly changing business environment.
